Diaspora Weave was created during a residency in Lagos — Okafor\’s first extended return after fifteen years in Europe. The piece documents the disorientation of that return: the patterns are familiar, but the hands that made them are not the same. Six weavers contributed, each from a different stage of the diaspora, each adding a layer that is theirs alone.
